i've been lurking around the forum for quite some time (about 6 months i think).

although our position as christian neutrals may not have been fully understood by our brothers nearly a century ago, they sought to please jehovah god.

this is aggravating, as the wts had 'policy' for so many years that jws could not do 'alternative' service.

I Had to laugh about this quote from pg 12:

i want to share with you an experience i had last night.

i was on my way to a vday date, hopped on the bus to get me there, and in front of me is a man folding tracts.

they say something about an end to suffering with a delusional paradise illustration.. so, he hands one to the woman in the row next to him, and tries to hand one back to me.

This is a horrible cult that ruins people's lives. I know because I'm pushing 50, NO education, and yes, we did have a janitorial business but not by choice we had to try and support ourselves.

I whole-heartedly agree with you because when I was about 12-14 I told my parents that I wanted to be a veternarian and they said 'No, the end is real close. You won't have time to finish so it will be a wate of time."

Where is this LOVE that is being "preached about"??

the only display of love that i have experienced is from non-jw's!!!!!

the people we have been warned so much to stay away from them are the only ones that have been supportive and loving towards me in my darkest moments.. .

what really gets me is how they can bring themselves to show "love" to someone who has committed heinous crimes like molesting children but will be downright hateful to people who have become better and happier people since they have left the organization!!!.

I forgot to add, that I too have found the people on here to be more friendly, more loving, more studious and research more than any JW. And they actually think on here, not just sit there bobbing their heads at the KH in agreement no matter how stupid it sounds. I have found it to be nothing like I was WARNED about.

Unbelievable Assertion!!!!!!!

we had our special assembly day this weekend.. what the district overseer stated in his talk totally stunned me, and made me feel sick to my stomach.

he said, "christ is directing us through the governing body, and we cannot get holy spirit except through them!".

i do not wish to reveal all my thoughts on his statement, but i pray to god that it acts as a wake-up call to at least some of the audience.. suffice to say that the gb is now the mediator to our mediator, and from now on, i will have to pray for holy spirit through the name of the gb!!.

The 2012 Convention was not the first time they have said the org. is our spiritual mother and that the bible diesn't shine forth life-giving truths by itself:

I know what you mean. 11 yrs ago, I was chemically poisoned while working in a dry-cleaners and it burned the lining of my lungs. So now, I have chemical sensitivities so bad that I cannot go into a KH or convention because of the overwhelming dry cleaned clothes and perfumes.

I'm not trying to get sympathy or make it sound like I'm sicker than anyone, but just to make the point that after that, I was told by even my OWN family members that it didn't matter how bad of an asthma attack I got at the meetings, that if I didn't go I would die at armegeddon. Even if I DIED while having an attack at the KH, then Jehovah would ressurect [I know I slaughtered the spelling] me into the new system because I died following HIS rules. But since I chose to wimp out and stay away, they considered me inactive, rebellous, you name it. But even before I got sick we did not see the LOVE.

Sorry, self preservation is pretty strong and I have a family to take care of.

In 2000, we decided to move out of the congregation we had been in for 23 yrs to another state. The last Saturday before we were leaving. After our BSO conducted the field service meeting and was asking about plans, my husband raised his hand and said that this was going to be our last day for service in that congregation and we would love to work with anyone for the last time. Everyone just sat there looking around. We were told we would have to work by ourselves because everyone else said they had plans. Driving out the KH parking lot, my husband says "Aw screw it, lets go home and pack!"

Yeah, I feel the love for the past 49 yrs!!!!

If you use WTBT$ date of 607 B.C.E, then that means he was NOT a prophet, but simply writing history down that Jerusalem HAD been destroyed. It's a catch-22, either he was a prophet and finished his writings BEFORE the destruction of Jerusalem [which would make it after 591 B.C.E] or he's a false prophet and was just writing history after the fact.
